And find out why ATL is the fastest growing union in the education sector

Elections for the national officer positions on the ATL Executive Committee are held every year in a postal ballot.
This year, there are two candidates for the election of ATL's junior vice-president:
Mark Baker
Geoff Pye.
There will be a postal ballot of all ATL standard members during February/early March.
The canvassing protocol agreed by the Executive Committee requires that there is at least one hustings meeting held so that members who are entitled to vote can hear the candidates speak and answer questions from members.
The hustings took place in ATL's London office on 26 January 2012. ATL president Alice Robinson chaired the session and invited each candidate to deliver a speech of no more than six minutes. The candidates then answered questions sent in by members.
Each candidate gave a 6-minute election address.

Each candidate then answered questions submitted by ATL members.
Question 1: what do you think are the key issues facing ATL and the other education unions in the next two to three years?
Question 2: it's been suggested that ATL is splitting the unity of the teaching unions over the pensions issue. What is your view of this?
Question 3: how would you develop the leadership role of ATL in order to develop the quality of, relationship with and support for branches?
Question 4: why should members in the independent sector vote for you? Do you have a distinctive view about this sector?
Question 5: what do you see as the most important role of the president of ATL?
Question 6: if you only managed to achieve one thing during your term of office as president, what would it be?
