ATL currently employs around 180 members of staff to give support, advice and information to our 170,000 members.

The majority of staff work from the London office and we also have offices in Belfast, Cardiff and Market Harborough to support the growing number of members in these areas.

ATL also employs staff across the UK to oversee members' case work and to promote the recruitment and organising of members.

Solicitor (Central London)

  • Part time - 2 days a week
  • £20,210 p.a. rising incrementally (inc London weighting)

We have an opening for an experienced and legally qualified professional to join our in-house team of solicitors. You will provide prompt and accurate legal advice to ATL members, staff and officers relating to professional issues arising from ATL members' employment.

You will manage cases up to and including representation at employment tribunal. With your knowledge of employment law and issues in the education sector that affect our members, and your understanding of trade unions, you will be a valuable addition. Your ability to work flexibly within a broader team will be an asset and you will demonstrate excellent communication, time management and IT skills. You must be able to work Wednesdays and Thursdays each week.
