How do I find a certain document or piece of information?

The ATL website is divided into eight main sections and a link to the home page. Each section contains related sub-sections. By clicking on any of the category or sub-section names, you will be taken to the relevant page.

  • About ATL: This section features reference information about ATL, including ATL history, structure, departments, and vacancies. Users can also use these pages to find out about ATL's relationship with the TUC and its international activities.
  • Join us: As well featuring membership information on subscriptions, eligibility, downloadable   application forms and other joining information, this section also contains online joining and special sections for students, newly qualified members, and independent members. The 'current members' pages offers information on topics such as claiming tax relief on subscriptions and updating contact details.
  • Contacts: Here, you'll find contact details for the ATL offices and names of all ATL's branch secretaries and national representatives. This section also contains a 'Helpdesk' form which can be used to request help, advice and information from ATL or its branch secretaries.
  • Help and advice: This section features answers to around 700 questions on around 100 different topics, ranging from pensions, pay and part-time working to special educational needs, tax and workload. Questions are organised on an A-Z framework. Pay scales are here. There's also a 'Frequently asked questions' section, a link to the pay calculator and another link to the helpdesk.
  • News and events: From here, users can read education news stories, written specially for them, every day. They can also find out about ATL's campaigns, find out about relevant conferences and exhibitions, and read about ATL's training courses.
  • Media office: This section contains all the latest press releases as well as a useful archive of releases from the past three years.
  • Your union: This section contains all the policy information members may need, including ATL's position statements and all of ATL's responses to consultations. Information about the services and benefits that are available to members is also available from here. The 'Get involved' pages act as a resource and information point on various volunteer roles within ATL such as rep, health and safety rep, branch officer, etc. Finally, the form to complete if members wish to join the member expertise database is in this section.
  • Resources: Don't forget you can order or download copies all of ATL's publications, newsletters and recruitment materials, direct from the website. This section also contains an archive of Update stories from the past three years as well as lots of useful addresses and phone numbers in the 'Useful contacts' section.

To use the search engine located on the right-hand side in a dark green panel, simply enter keywords relating to the information you want to find on the site and all relevant results will be returned on a new page.

You may also find it useful to browse the site map. This is a list of the main sections on the website. If a page name is indented compared to the one above, then it is considered to be at a level below that page.
