Wales' new chief inspector for schools has taken up her post with a promise to increase collaboration between the country's main education agencies.
New Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales Anne Keane, who has previously served as strategic director and head of directorate at Estyn, has succeeded outgoing senior inspector Dr Bill Maxwell following his resignation.
She said: "I am confident that Estyn is in a strong position to drive forward the good work that Dr Maxwell accomplished during his leadership."
Asked about her priorities for the new role, she said: "We need [
] collaboration between the Assembly Government, local authorities and the education providers themselves."
Dr Maxwell headed Estyn for two years and has left the body in favour of a move to Scotland as successor to the country's former Senior Chief Inspector of Education Graham Donaldson.
Estyn is the office of Her Majesty's Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales, and provides an independent inspection service for schools within the country.
