The Welsh Baccalaureate qualification is going from strength to strength, it has been claimed.
Speaking yesterday (August 19th) as results were handed out, Welsh Education Minister Leighton Andrews AM said students achieved another excellent set of results for the Advanced Level Award.
"The number of students entering, completing and achieving the Award is up significantly from 2009 demonstrating that it is quickly becoming embedded as the pathway of choice in Wales," he commented.
Mr Andrews noted that the challenges of the Welsh Baccalaureate set young people up well, adding extra value and depth to their education and standing them in good stead for their future studies and the world of work.
Overall, 4,360 people achieved an A grade equivalent in the qualification.
In addition, Welsh students had an overall A-level pass rate of 97.1 per cent, with 24.4 per cent of people gaining an A or A* in their exams.
