And find out why ATL is the fastest growing union in the education sector

This group provides advice and guidance to ATL's Executive and officials on all matters relevant to our growing support staff membership, including teaching assistants, librarians, technicians, examination officers, administrative staff and all other education professionals employed in a support role in the maintained, independent and FE sectors.
The Support Staff Members' Working Group (SSMWG) meets on a termly basis and meetings are officered by ATL's national official for support staff, Peter Morris. Jenny Inglis, from ATL's executive council and lead member for support staff, also attends.
SSMWG is asking for nominations for members for the next ATL electoral cycle (2010-2012). The Executive Committee has agreed that SSMWG members should ideally come from one of the following employment categories, but it is recognised that members will often fit into two or more categories:
There will also be two Executive Committee members serving on the SSMWG, one of whom will be the designated lead member for support staff issues.
The SSMWG meets three times a year, on a termly basis, and the meetings will in future be held on Saturday. Travel and subsistence will be paid, and overnight accommodation if needed will also be paid for, with the prior approval of the honorary treasurers.
Nominations should be made to Peter Morris using this online form by 9am on Wednesday 23rd June. Members will also be asked to provide a supporting statement of no more than 100 words. Should there be more nominations than available seats, the Executive Committee will decide on the makeup of the group at its' meeting on July 3rd.
