ATL artwork competition

Do you have a creative spark that you want to nurture in your students? Then read on to find out how to enter ATL's first ever art competition...

In return for your time and the students' creativity, you'll receive fabulous prizes for individuals, whole classes and schools.

We want to encourage students to think about the future of education and what that may mean for them, be creative and express themselves. We will welcome drawings, paintings, collages, cartoons, photographs, computer generated images, sculptures and more. We're looking for bright, bold colours and lots of imagination!

Shortlist of 40 finalists announced!

To view the artwork, visit the album on ATL's facebook page.

How do I enter?

Entering the competition couldn't be easier:

  1. Decide which category your student/s would be eligible to enter: early years (six and under), primary, secondary or post-16.

  2. Work with your student/s to create the artwork, or select the artwork for entry.

  3. Take a digital photograph of the artwork.

  4. Email your photograph to artcompetition@atl.org.uk.

  5. Please ensure that the following is clearly stated in the email: the name of member nominating the piece of artwork, along with their membership number, the students name, age and the category they are entering.  Please also include a few words on why the student chose to do this piece of art, to accompany the emailed picture.

What's on offer?

The top 40 entrants will be selected and judged and a winner from each category will be selected. Each category winner will receive:

  • £200 worth of art equipment for the school/college (ATL will reimburse costs on production of receipt/s)

  • £125 cash for the school/college, courtesy of Aviva

  • £50 in cash for the artist

  • a visit from the president of ATL to their school/college to personally award the student their prize and certificate.

There will also be an overall winner from these categories who, in addition to receiving the above prizes, will also receive:

  • a £1,000 HF Holidays voucher (for the student and his/her family), courtesy of HF Holidays*

  • a £300 HF Holidays voucher for the teacher, courtesy of HF Holidays*

Entries will be displayed online and via ATL's Facebook page, and a sample will be exhibited at ATL's annual conference in Liverpool in April 2011. The top forty entries will be displayed in ATL's national offices and professionally framed (if applicable) with the name of the student and the school/college on a plaque.
