Laura works in the North West Region and leads on union learning activity and rep development. Laura supports ULRs and branch secretaries in the region to work to a regional and branch plan on learning. This includes ensuring all members have access to high quality CPD and arranging reps and member sessions. Laura also sits on the FE interdepartmental group ensuring that the learning needs of FE members are represented.
Lorraine works in the Northern Region and leads on union learning activity and rep development. Lorraine supports the North East Learning Network working to make sure they provide termly learning events for their members. Lorraine also sits on the supply interdepartmental group and is currently working on setting up a network of ULRs in South Yorkshire.
Vicki works in the Midland Region and leads on union learning activity and rep development. Vicki supports two union learning networks in the region in the west and east and helps branches to plan strategically for learning activity. Vicki works with regional ATL and TUC colleagues to ensure that learning is embedded into the region. Vicki also works with newly trained reps to continue to develop their skills and signpost them to opportunities.
Sandra Berry works across the South West region in partnership with ATL members, ATL reps, branches and learning stakeholders including local providers such as Further Education enabling her to maximise learning opportunities for all South West ATL. Sandra sits on the support staff working group and is committed to ensure there is equality of access to professional development for all members.
Tim works with ATL branches and lay members on the planning, developing and organising of union led learning in the branch and workplace. Many branches are linking union learning to their branch development and engaging with their members through a diverse range of professional development and lifelong learning opportunities.
For example: In London, London Wide, the CPD network for London based members provides a rolling programme of guest speakers, training and professional development opportunities at the central London office. In Hampshire, the branch ULR is creating new union led learning in various country locations like the University of Winchester and even heritage sites. Meanwhile, in Croydon the branch secretary has established a robust programme of professional development at a school on a Saturday mornings.
