Laura Boyd

Laura Boyd, North West

Laura works in the North West Region and leads on union learning activity and rep development. Laura supports ULRs and branch secretaries in the region to work to a regional and branch plan on learning. This includes ensuring all members have access to high quality CPD and arranging reps and member sessions. Laura also sits on the FE interdepartmental group ensuring that the learning needs of FE members are represented.

Lorraine Fisher

Lorraine Fisher, North East, Yorkshire and Humber

Lorraine works in the Northern Region and leads on union learning activity and rep development. Lorraine supports the North East Learning Network working to make sure they provide termly learning events for their members. Lorraine also sits on the supply interdepartmental group and is currently working on setting up a network of ULRs in South Yorkshire.

Rebecca Poorhady

Rebecca Poorhady, Midlands

As a former teacher, ATL member and an ATL Unionlearn fund project worker, Rebecca's passion for learning is demonstrated in the development of a diverse, innovative and inspiring regional plan of CPD activity, which supports members personal and professional development. 

Rebecca champions the value of learning across all sectors, particularly in English and maths, signposting opportunities and supporting workplace reps and members to develop their practice, knowledge and skills.

Sandra Berry

Sandra Berry, South West

Sandra Berry works across the South West region in partnership with ATL members, ATL reps, branches and learning stakeholders including local providers such as Further Education enabling her to maximise learning opportunities for all South West ATL. Sandra sits on the support staff working group and is committed to ensure there is equality of access to professional development for all members.

Tim Brooks

Tim Brooks, London and South-East

Tim works with ATL branches and lay members on the planning, developing and organising of union-led learning in the branch and workplace. Many branches are linking union learning to their branch development and engaging with their members through a diverse range of professional development and lifelong learning opportunities.

For example: in London, London Wide, the CPD network for London-based members provides a rolling programme of guest speakers, training and professional development opportunities at the central London office. In Hampshire, the branch ULR is creating new union-led learning in various country locations like the University of Winchester and even heritage sites. Meanwhile in Croydon the branch secretary has established a robust programme of professional development at a school on a Saturday mornings.

Nikki Simpson

Nikki Simpson, Eastern

Nikki works in the Eastern Region (covering Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire) and leads on union learning activity and rep development. Nikki is also a qualified Digital Champion and will be looking to develop ways of helping reps to support members who wish to get on line or update their current IT skills.
