ATL comment on the launch of the independent review of professionalism in the FE and skills sector

2 February 2012

Mary Bousted, general secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), said:

"ATL welcomes the appointment of Lord Lingfield to head the independent review of professionalism in the FE and skills sector. The remit and scope of the panel is clear and deserves urgent attention by all those involved in the FE and skills sector. This is a turning point in the history of further education and skills, and with the engagement and good will of all stakeholders should lead to a renewed professionalism that demonstrates integrity, industry, and innovation.

The FE sector is vitally important both to the economy and to the education achievements of young people and adults, which is why ATL sees this independent review as crucial."
