You may be eligible to progress on your pay scale based either on your length of service or your performance.
Progression on the main pay scale is annual as at 1 September until you reach M6. To progress, your service must have been satisfactory in the previous academic year.
If your service has not been satisfactory then you must be informed and told that you may not be eligible for progression.
Once you are placed on M6 you may apply to cross the threshold to move onto the upper pay scale.
Progression on the upper pay scale is linked to the outcomes of your performance management reviews.
You need two successful consecutive performance management reviews to be eligible to move to the next point on the upper pay scale. You need also to have demonstrated a substantial and sustained commitment to the school.
You should discuss with your performance management reviewer what is needed for you to progress on the upper pay scale.
You may progress after one year if your service has been deemed to be excellent.
