Maintained sector pay scales

Pay scales for teachers working in maintained schools across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales can be viewed from this page.

In accordance with the government's public sector pay freeze there will be no increase to teachers' salary scales as at 1 September 2012. Those unqualified teachers on points 1, 2 and 3 will receive a £250 non-consolidated payment. This will be paid monthly and is pensionable.

Those teachers eligible for movement on the main, upper, AST or leadership pay scale should progress in accordance with the recommendations made during their performance management review.

Part-time teachers in maintained schools will be paid according to the same scales but should view ATL's advice on how part-time payments are calculated.

If you are a supply teacher you may also be paid according to the scales below, and should view ATL's advice on pay for supply teachers.
