And find out why ATL is the fastest growing union in the education sector

ATL's general election campaign, 'A new term: speak up for education', targeted potential parliamentary candidates in the run up to the general election.
During the campaign, ATL called on politicians to cut through the party politics of education and start listening to those in the know – the education staff working in our schools and colleges.
You can read about the changes ATL members want to see in education, by reading ATL's education manifesto in full. You can also read the manifestos of ATL Cymru, ATL in Northern Ireland and ATL Scotland.
In summary, ATL members called on politicians to:
trust teachers' judgement on curriculum and assessment
abolish Ofsted inspections in favour of local guidance and support
abolish pupil performance league tables
reduce staff workloads by cutting unnecessary bureaucracy
keep national pay scales and conditions of employment for teaching staff
ensure pay parity between sectors
introduce national pay scales for support staff
safeguard public sector pensions
no further rises in the state retirement age
staff to remain anonymous while an allegation is being investigated
maintain or improve funding levels for each learner
fair funding for all learners
no profits for sponsors or governors of academies or other state schools
end child poverty in the UK by 2020
play a part in achieving the Millennium Development and Education for All goals.
