And find out why ATL is the fastest growing union in the education sector

ATL Scotland launched its manifesto ahead of the 2011 Scottish Parliamentary election at a reception at the Scottish Parliament on 17 November.
The manifesto says teachers' judgement on curriculum and assessment should be trusted, that the re-accreditation of teachers should be abandoned and unnecessary bureaucracy reduced. It also calls for fair funding for learners, protected pensions and efforts to tackle child poverty.
ATL executive member and Scotland branch president Dr Alastair MacPherson hosted the event, which was attended by MSPs, ATL President Andy Brown and Anne Kane from Oxfam Scotland, who spoke of the importance of continuing to tackle child poverty.
