And find out why ATL is the fastest growing union in the education sector

ATL Scotland national official Keith Robson wants to hear your views
You're reading this column a few weeks after the ATL Annual Conference takes place in Liverpool, where members from across the UK have had the opportunity to help develop and shape ATL's policy positions by debating and voting on conference resolutions.
This Conference sees the first resolution submitted by the ATL Scotland branch focusing on independent schools and charitable status. See page 20 for more on the resolution and its outcome.
Conference is not the only opportunity for members to get involved in ATL's democracy. By now, members in Scotland should have received mail informing them of the second Annual General Meeting (AGM). Members have the opportunity to stand for election to the ATL Scotland branch committee and develop the activities for the coming year. The AGM will also see members elected as conference representatives for 2010.
This academic year we have already offered CPD seminars on voice care and CPD in credit crunch times, and the seminar on assertiveness will coincide with the AGM. Do you think we should have chosen different topics, venues and/or timings? Could we have done more to engage you in the policy work of ATL Scotland, and inspired you to attend the seminars and other events held during the year?
In essence, what is it you would like to see from your ATL Scotland branch? Can you afford some time to contribute to the work of ATL Scotland? Are you passionate about education? Then stand for election and get involved! Contact ATL Scotland for more information.
