National official Keith Robson reminds you that ATL Scotland is here to help

With the credit crunch seriously beginning to bite for some, ATL Scotland is currently working with affected members to advise them of their rights, as many schools are reviewing staff levels and redundancies are a distinct possibility.

If you are informed that your school is reviewing its staffing levels, it is important that you contact your ATL rep in school immediately. If you do not have a school rep, please contact the ATL Scotland office or callĀ 0131 272 2748. We can come and meet with you to discuss your particular situation.

Schools have a duty as employers to follow procedures when the possibility of redundancies exists, and we can advise you on what this means in practice for you. We will treat all enquiries in the strictest confidence and will only act in agreement with your wishes.

The threat of redundancies is difficult for all staff within the schools concerned and we are sensitive to the varying dynamics at play. Some people will be keen to investigate all their options and others will be equally keen to remain in their post.

We cannot promise that redundancies in schools will be avoided but we can promise that your interests will be represented throughout the process. Regardless of the circumstances it is important that you are properly advised, so do not hesitate to contact us.
