ATL Future

ATL Future is the group made up of students and newly qualified members of ATL. It represents ATL's newest members, ensuring that their views and issues inform the work of ATL's national Executive.

ATL Future is run by a steering group made of up of six members, who meet regularly but who also canvas opinions and feedback from the wider group of student and NQ members using online forums and group emails.

The group helps plan ATL Future network events for students and NQs up and down the country, contributes to the education debate as seen through eyes of the profession's newest members, attends annual Conference, as well as putting resources together for student/NQ members and contributing to ATL's magazine, New2teaching.

For much more on ATL Future and its work, see ATL's New2Teaching website.

You can also find out about ATL Future events on New2Teaching.

ATL Future has the future of the teaching profession and the education of young people at the heart of all we do. But recent coalition government policies in England are threatening that future. This paper explores why we believe this to be the case.

We hope it will provoke further discussion and that union members and young people will work together more closely to raise their concerns and resolve their issues. We want a generation of young people with high aspirations and engagement in their education, supported by adequate resources, services, and motivated and talented education professionals who will help them achieve their full potential in life.

We implore our ministers and political leaders to work towards the same goal.
