And find out why ATL is the fastest growing union in the education sector

You've joined us. To join in and get on, why not become a rep or contact in your school or college?
ATL representatives provide vital information and support to colleagues in their establishment. Being an ATL representative is not an onerous task and individuals can undertake as much or as little of the role as they wish at any given time.
The responsibilities of a representative fall into four main areas, none of which should be too time-consuming:
providing information to other members in the school/college and raising the profile of ATL by updating the staffroom noticeboard with posters and newsletters
recruiting new members into ATL membership - introducing yourself to new members of staff and asking them to join
acting as a communication link on key issues in education between ATL and other members in the school/college
signposting members in the school/college to sources of information and advice within ATL.
ATL offers a wide range of information, support and training to its team of 18,000 reps across the country. For more information, see the being a rep page of our reps toolbox section of this website, where you will also find a host of other information for reps (you will need to log in to be able to access it).
If you'd like to talk to someone about becoming a rep, please contact our organising team.
Don't forget there are also other types of reps, including health and safety reps and union learning reps.
Being a rep fits around what I'm doing as a teacher. My involvement means I have a better knowledge of what's happening in the education world.
