And find out why ATL is the fastest growing union in the education sector

ATL, the education union, has a well-respected voice in the education debate because we provide considered alternatives to ineffective policies or difficult issues such as assessment, the curriculum, academies and faith schools.
We use the experiences of our members to formulate our policy, working with members in forums called specialist task groups to inform the direction of our research and to strengthen our arguments in areas such as rural poverty and homophobic bullying.
We also regularly survey our members on their opinions on issues such as pay and workload so we can take the voice of our members to social partnership, where we sit around the table with government/employers to negotiate real improvements.
In Britain, ATL is affiliated to the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and in Northern Ireland to the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU). Working together with other unions through these bodies, we are able to extend the influence of our members and set the agenda on such issues as ending child poverty and opposing the marketisation of education.
