Doing nothing is why many people struggle to make ends meet. But help is at hand.

Granted, dealing with financial issues can be daunting.

For instance, do you know if your pension will give you enough income when you retire? Or whether you could afford to retire early? Or if your savings could be more tax-efficient? Or how you could help your children or grandchildren financially? But these things have to be faced.

Talking through face-to-face with one of our professional financial adviser will set your mind at ease.

As an ALT+ Partner, we are here to offer you practical, affordable, professional financial advice. This advice is specific to you and could improve your financial situation.

Complimentary financial check-up

As a member of ATL you are entitled to a no obligation, complimentary consultation with one of our professional advisers. They can meet you at home, at work, or elsewhere. They will explain how you could benefit from advice and how much it will cost. You can then decide whether to go ahead.

We can explain how you may be able to:

  • build up a nest-egg tax-efficiently, for yourself or for your children or grandchildren
  • boost your pension provision, so you will be able to enjoy a comfortable retirement
  • protect your family's income, so they have enough money if the worst happens
  • take your pension and get the best possible income
  • pay for long-term care
  • pass on your wealth to your loved ones in a tax-efficient way.

Thinking about accessing an additional pension? Talk to us before you do anything

If you have your Teachers' Pension and don't have pensions from previous employers or make additional voluntary contributions (AVCs) you are unlikely to be affected by the new rules about accessing your pension. But if you have a personal pension, group personal pensions from previous employers where your pension is not based on your earnings, stakeholder pensions or AVCs you are affected.

The government is offering free guidance, under the Pensions Wise brand, to help you understand your options. However this won't provide you with comprehensive advice that takes into account your particular situation and needs. For that you should talk to us. The advice and recommendations we provide are specific to you.

Seminars for your staff on topical financial planning issues

We organise seminars in schools and colleges on a wide range of financial planning topics. The seminars, which are free of charge, have a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Topics can include the consequences of changes to teachers' and local government pension schemes, highlighting any action your staff could consider taking or other financial planning issues.

Alternatively, we can run a surgery, where members book 30-minute, individual, confidential consultations with one of our experienced financial advisers.

To discuss holding a seminar or surgery in your school or college please email
