Commenting after the passing of motion 22 at NEU Annual Conference, Daniel Kebede, General Secretary of the National Education Union, said:

“The NEU campaigns for a significant pay correction for teachers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland who have all seen the value of their pay cut in real terms since 2010.  Teachers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland should not be paid less than their counterparts in Scotland.  All teachers across the UK need to be properly valued and this means significant pay increases not just to level up pay to the levels in Scotland but to secure a major pay correction so that we pay teachers properly for the crucial work they do.”
